Quality Assurance

Quality is an important part of each and every person's job at Crowley Foods. While each of our functional areas have their own specific goals and policies, our corporately sponsored Improving Quality and Service program (IQS) ensures that we operate in a quality environment as an entire organization. Some examples of our IQS programs are:

• Daily quality testing at our manufacturing facilities to ensure that every product meets our high-quality standards before it leaves our plants
• Weekly quality testing using blind organoleptic evaluations to measure our product quality against that of our competitor's
• Annual training for all employees on our Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to ensure that everyone is following our guidelines
• State of the art, fully-computerized Research and Development labs which test and monitor the quality of our products on a daily basis
• A company-wide, on-going commitment to IQS which encourages every employee to take ownership for the quality of our products

Research and Development

We endeavor to be at the forefront of technological advancements occurring in the dairy industry.

• Our expert Research and Development staff is committed to developing new and enhanced processes and products, using a 5,000 square foot pilot plant which is fully equipped to mimic plant processing conditions
• Our innovative Engineering Department constantly applies the latest computer technology to our processing facilities
• We have been extremely active in implementing innovative processes and ingredients to extend the shelf-life (ESL) of our products. This effort has included both the use of modified processing conditions as well as natural anti-microbial agents
• Through frequent contact with many of the regional National Dairy Promotion Research Centers, our Research and Development staff stay abreast with current innovations in the dairy industry

Marketing is a vital part of our company. Our marketing department's charge is to stay on top of category and consumer trends, new product innovations, and industry changes. Its role is to support our company's growth through strategic brand marketing, and to work diligently to anticipate and meet consumer demand, as well as provide a value-added resource to our many retail customers.

Industry Expertise

Crowley Foods stays abreast of economic and legislative issues relating to the dairy industry, and maintains contact with agencies that have an impact on industry conditions. The on-going evaluation of industry activities and trends impacting the dairy business is essential to successful business management, and we readily share this valuable information with our customers. We follow an uncompromising policy of regulatory compliance with all state and federal laws, and all of our product formulas meet the Food Code of Federal Regulations. All of our plants maintain FDA USPH (Food and Drug Administration United States Public Health) Interstate Milk Shippers Grade A manufacturing ratings, and all specifications are set to meet or exceed all federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
