Crowley Awarded 10 Medals at 2004 New York State Fair

Binghamton, N.Y., September 12, 2004 — Crowley Foods set records at the 2004 Great New York State Fair, winning five gold medals and five silver medals in the Fair's prestigious dairy foods competition.

Leading the list of awards, Crowley dominated the cottage cheese category wining both the gold and silver medals for every style of cottage cheese in the competition. Diet, nonfat, and regular cottage cheese from Crowley's LaFargeville, N.Y., facility swept the top honors, setting a State Fair record. Never before had single dairy plant earned all the gold and silver medals in the cottage cheese category.

Crowley's Arkport, N.Y., facility also earned a gold medal for producing the best sour cream in New York State.

Crowley's Albany, N.Y., facility earned a silver medal for producing the best milk in New York State.

"This is a testament to Crowley's overall commitment to quality, and to the talent and craftsmanship of our staff at our LaFargeville, Arkport and Albany facilities," said Milt Cutway, Crowley Food's Vice President of Operations. "We work hard to produce the best products we possibly can and this confirms our efforts. It's incredibly gratifying for all of us."

In addition, Crowley claimed gold and silver medals for cream cheese at the LaFargeville, N.Y., facility. The medal tally set a record for the company; its previous best was seven medals at the 2002 and 2003 New York State Fairs.

"We're proud that our products are recognized every year as New York's best, but this year is special. This is unprecedented," said Joe Cervantes, Chief Operating Officer of Crowley Foods, LLC. "It takes a great team to earn this kind of recognition, and we have one. Everyone in our company deserves congratulations."

With a long tradition of producing high-quality dairy products, Crowley is no stranger to state fair medals. Its most recent awards include gold medals for milk, buttermilk, regular cottage cheese, and lowfat cottage cheese at the 2003 State Fair. In 2002, Crowley won the Grand Champion award for cottage cheese, and took home gold medals for milk, cottage cheese, and dip.
