The Cheese to Choose – Crowley Cottage Cheese

Looking for ways to eat lighter and healthier? Crowley Cottage Cheese is the Cheese to Choose. Use Crowley Cottage Cheese instead of higher fat cheeses, like whole milk ricotta, mozzarella, and cheddar. Cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein and a good source of calcium with less fat and less saturated fat than other types of cheeses. (For side-by-side nutritional comparisons, see April ’06 To Your Healthy Life.Style. article.) And with Crowley Cottage Cheese, you don’t have to give up great taste in lieu of less fat. Our cottage cheese has won awards for taste four years running at the Great New York State Fair’s annual dairy competition.

Here are some quick tips on how to eat lighter and healthier with Crowley Cottage Cheese. Instead of cream cheese, spread protein-packed Crowley Cottage Cheese on your morning bagel. Boost nutrition by stirring cottage cheese into warm or cold pasta dishes, such as spaghetti with marinara sauce or macaroni salad. Serve our regular, lowfat or nonfat cottage cheese with fruit, such as peaches or pineapple, for a healthy snack or dinner treat.

For a collection of recipes that call for Crowley Cottage Cheese instead of higher fat cheeses, go to our Recipes page. You’ll find savory recipes, like Cheese and Bean Enchiladas, Cheesy Fruit Tarts, and Four Cheese Pizza, and each cottage cheese recipe comes complete with nutrition facts so you can monitor the fat and calories in each delicious recipe.

Celebrate life with a healthy, reduced fat lifestyle and enjoy delicious Crowley Cottage Cheese. It’s the Cheese to Choose!

More Proof - Research on Dairy and Weight Management

A new study, funded by the National Dairy Council, adds support to the body of research showing a connection between dairy and weight management. This study, led by Dr. Edward Melanson of University of Colorado at Denver, was designed to investigate the mechanism by which dairy and calcium may promote the body’s ability to burn fat. When exercising adults on a slightly-reduced calorie diet consumed three to four servings of dairy foods each day, their metabolism changed so that their bodies burned more fat than they did when they consumed one serving of dairy under the same conditions. The study was published in the January issue of Obesity Research (the journal of NAASO, the Obesity Society).
