Summer Fun
Practical Picnic Tips & Mouth Watering Recipes

Practical Picnic Tips
July is the perfect picnic time; follow these quick tips to keep your foods safe:

  • Pack your meat and poultry while it is still frozen to help it stay cold longer.
  • Be sure to keep the cooler out of the direct sun, find a shade tree or even place it under the picnic table.
  • Have one cooler for drinks and one cooler from foods; this will help to keep the food cooler colder because it won’t be opened as often.
  • Bring along disposable wipes or hand cleanser to keep your hands clean incase running water is not available! If running water is available wash your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds.
  • After the picnic throw away any thawed food or perishable food items, especially if the ice packs or ice has thawed.
